NASHVILLE — Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, in partnership with the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury, have obtained indictments for a former clerk in the Wilson County Trustee’s Office who is accused of stealing funds from tax payments, according to a release from the TBI.

At the request of 15th District Attorney General Tommy Thompson, TBI Agents began investigating Shannon Marie Hodgin, 42, on March 1. During the course of the investigation, agents, working alongside the Comptroller’s Division of Investigations, developed information that, during a three-month period beginning in December 2016, Hodgin allegedly stole funds from property tax payments made by Wilson County taxpayers and manipulated government records in an effort to disguise the thefts, which totaled $14,333.74. Hodgin resigned her position when authorities discovered the issue.

On July 10, the Wilson County Grand Jury returned indictments charging the Lebanon woman with one count of theft, one count of official misconduct, and one count of tampering with government records.

Authorities arrested Hodgin July 14 and booked her into the Wilson County Jail. Authorities released her after she posted $5,000 bond.
