Christmas came early around the office of Claiborne County Office of Emergency Management Homeland Security and the Claiborne Hunger Ministry. Air Force National Guard troops had a mutual aid request from Santa to deliver an 18-wheeler and another truckload of toys to the Hunger Ministry for its annual Angel Tree drive. The troops were escorted in by the Tazewell Police and Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office. “It warms your heart to see so many people giving back to the community,” said David Breeding, director of the CCOEMHS. The CCOEMHS office is located on the same block as the Claiborne Hunger Ministry. The Hunger Ministry operates solely on donations and feeds hundreds of people each week. It is open each Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for food giveaway. If you would like to donate, stop by the ministry location, just off of Main Street in Tazewell.
