Estep handles probation violations

Judge Robert Estep handled several violations of probation cases recently during hearings in Claiborne County Sessions Court.

Kristy L. Davis, 33, was brought before the judge for a batch of violations under a handful of warrants. Davis was charged with failure to report to probation, to complete an alcohol and drug assessment, failing a drug screening by testing positive for Oxycodone, failing to complete an inpatient rehabilitation program and for nonpayment of court costs and fines while on probation. She was also charged with criminal trespassing.

Davis was sentenced to a concurrent 11 months, 29 days at 75 percent confinement. She was given credit for 127 days jail time already served.

Gryphon Buis, 24, was charged under two warrants with failing a drug screening on two occasions. Buis tested positive on Nov. 24 for amphetamines, methamphetamines, THC, Benzodiazepine, Oxycodone, Oxymorphone and Buprenorphine (Suboxone) while on probation. On Dec. 8, Buis tested positive for THC, opiates, oxycodone, Benzo and Suboxone while on probation.

He was sentenced to a concurrent 11 months, 29 days at 75 percent confinement with credit for 75 days and five hours jail time already served.

Christopher D. Northern, 25, charged with failure to report to probation, to submit to random drug screenings, to complete an alcohol and drug assessment and for nonpayment of court costs and supervision fees while on probation, was sentenced to an extended 11 months, 29 days supervised probation with 20 days confinement. Northern was given credit for three days jail time already served.

Herbert Ricky Irvin, 44, initially charged with failure to report to probation, to submit to random drug screenings, to complete an alcohol and drug assessment and for nonpayment of supervision fees while on probation, was sentenced to an additional 11 months, 29 days supervised probation with 15 days confinement. Irvin was given credit for eight days jail time already served.

Rhonda J. Hurst, 25, charged with driving on a revoked license due to a conviction for driving under the influence, not attending a MADD Victim Impact Panel, for not completing an alcohol and drug assessment, not submitting to a drug screening, for failure to report to probation and for nonpayment of court costs, fines and supervision fees while on probation. Hurst was sentenced to a concurrent six months supervised probation with two days confinement. She was ordered to complete the alcohol and drug assessment and to become fully compliant with probation within 30 days. Hurst must also attend the MADD Panel or be again placed in violation of her probation.

Brandy T. Jones, 23, initially charged with failure to report to probation and for nonpayment of court costs, fines and supervision fees while on probation, was sentenced to an additional six months supervised probation with two days confinement. Jones was given credit for two days jail time already served. In consideration for Jones’ payment in full of the court costs, she may be granted unsupervised probation once found fully compliant.

Kathy Rouse, 44, charged with failure to complete an alcohol and drug assessment and for nonpayment of court costs, fines and supervision fees while on probation, was sentenced to an additional six months supervised probation. As a condition of her probationary status, Rouse was ordered to comply with the alcohol and drug assessment requirement within 30 days.
