Sexton accepts criminal plea agreements

Judge Shayne Sexton accepted several plea agreements last week, during a session in Claiborne County Criminal Court.

Todd Joseph Jones, 29, charged with one count each of reckless aggravated assault and child abuse and neglect, was sentenced to a split confinement of two years TDOC supervised probation with nine days confinement. Jones was given credit for nine days jail time already served. He must pay at least $150 per month in court costs and $200 in restitution to his victim. Jones must have no contact with his victim and must stay at least 1,000 feet away from her.

Angela Faye Ellis, 34, charged with assault, theft of property under $500 and introduction of contraband into a penal facility under two separate cases, was sentenced to a concurrent split confinement of two years TDOC supervised probation with 230 days confinement. Ellis was given credit for 230 days jail time already served. She must pay at least $100 per month in court

Joshua Sutton, 26, charged with one count aggravated arson, four counts of arson and one count of setting fire to personal property or land, was sentenced to an effective 17 years confinement. Sutton was given credit for 283 days jail time already served. This case runs concurrently with a prior one.

Robert Brandon Poore, 28, charged with felony evading arrest and introduction of contraband into a penal facility, was sentenced to seven years at 30 percent confinement. Poore was given credit for 24 days jail time already served. This case runs concurrently with another criminal case.

Stephen Eugene Gibson, 20, charged with escape, was sentenced to one year at 30 percent confinement. This case runs consecutively to another criminal case.

Lindsey Megan Combs, 23, charged with escape, was sentenced to a split confinement of one year TDOC supervised probation with 30 days confinement. Combs must pay at least $75 per month in court costs beginning 30 days following release from jail.

Anita Roesch, 20, charged with attempted introduction of contraband into a penal facility, was sentenced to a split confinement of four years TDOC supervised probation with 45 days confinement. Roesch was given credit for 19 days jail time already served. She must pay at least $100 per month in court costs beginning 30 days after release from jail.

Lisa Staley, 40, charged with two counts of forgery, was sentenced to a effective four years TDOC supervised probation. Staley must pay at least $100 per month in court costs beginning on May 6 and forfeits $300 to the Economic Crime Fund. She must pay $215 in restitution to Pizza Inn in Tazewell. Staley is barred from any contact with her victim and from the Pizza Inn premises.

Gregg Martinez Jr., 30, initially charged with criminal conspiracy, introduction of contraband into a penal facility and possession of a schedule III controlled substance, was sentenced to six years at 35 percent confinement on the one count of introduction of contraband into a penal facility. This case runs concurrently with all prior ones.

Justin Brett King, 34, charged with burglary, was sentenced to three years confinement. King was given credit for any jail time served since Dec. 9. He must pay at least $100 per month in court costs beginning on May 6. King forfeits $150 to the Economic Crime Fund. He is eligible for suspension of his sentence upon acceptance into and successful completion of the Eighth Judicial District Drug Court Program.

Richard Wayne Wright, 57, initially charged with two counts of possession of a schedule II controlled substance with the intent to sell, possession of less than 0.5 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to sell and deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia, was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days at 75 percent confinement. Wright was given credit for 124 days jail time already served. His final sentencing was for one count each possession of methamphetamine and possession of a schedule II controlled substance. The remaining charges were nolle.
