One person is dead after a two-vehicle collision Friday afternoon.
The wreck occurred on U.S. Hwy. 25E in front of Springdale BP. Traffic was blocked in the northbound lane for some time and rerouted by officers.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Bob Brooks, a silver Dodge pickup was traveling north when a black Ford Mustang that was traveling south allegedly turned left in front of the truck.
Jason Sharp, 21, of Tazewell, was driving the pickup and his passenger was Selena Sharp, 23, also of Tazewell. They were both taken to Claiborne Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Brooks said later Friday afternoon that both were in stable condition.
The Mustang driver, Louis Wolfe, 56, of Thorn Hill, and his front seat passenger, John C. Holt, 36, also of Thorn Hill, were flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville by Lifestar. Their conditions were unknown as of press time.
A passenger in the back of the Mustang, Susan Carsitta Shelton, 36, of Thorn Hill, died as the result of injuries sustained in the wreck, Brooks said.
Charges are pending, according to Brooks, the investigating officer.
In addition to the THP, the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office, Claiborne EMS, Lifestar, TNT Fire Department and Springdale Fire Department responded to the scene.
