Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) held its annual Donor Memorial Service on Monday, May 16, 2016, at the Hamilton Math and Science Building on the LMU main campus in Harrogate, Tennessee.
The ceremony began with opening remarks from LMU-DCOM Dean Brian A. Kessler, DO, FACOFP, followed by the national anthem and color-guard presentation. Several LMU-DCOM students performed songs and shared their gratitude to the donors and their families and spoke of the great legacy their family members were leaving. After the service students lined the walkway to the donor memorial wall as the donor families made their way to the wall.
“The students showed the utmost respect for the donors throughout the service and especially at the end by honoring the donors and families with a moment of silence at the memorial wall. It was a very touching moment that made me proud to be a part of the LMU-DCOM family,” Kessler said. “On behalf of LMU-DCOM and the anatomy department we would like to thank the donors and the donor families for their unselfish gift to the education of our medical students.”
The LMU-DCOM Anatomical Donation Program is a whole body donor program established to give students the best medical education possible, and provide thorough anatomical training that is vitally important to the comprehensive education of future physicians.
