Local officials are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing man.

Eugene J. Elmore, also known as “Jack,” was last seen June 13, according to the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office. He was seen at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the Clouds and Midway community, wearing carpenter style blue jeans, a short-sleeve plaid button-up shirt and beige colored slip-on shoes.

Elmore “has early signs of dementia and requires assistance to maneuver around,” according to the CCSO.

He is a 78-year-old white male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds and has gray hair and brown eyes.

The vehicle owned by Elmore is described to be a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab, black in color, bearing a Tennessee tag number 013-BNB, with 20-inch wheels and chrome step rails.

Elmore is believed to currently be in this vehicle, possibly in a wooded area or farm in or near the Claiborne and Union County area.

Officials have been concentrating the search in the Chuck Swan Wildlife Management area.

“We have exhausted all the leads we have,” said David Breeding, director of the Claiborne County Office of Emergency Management. “We are hoping that someone from the public sees his truck and calls in.”

The CCSO is requesting that all farmers in the area to please check their property in attempt to help locate the missing man.

“We’ve done extensive ground searches and aerial searches,” said Det. Tim Shrout of the CCSO, who is the lead investigator on the case. “We just need the public’s help in finding him.”

According to Breeding, numerous agencies have assisted the CCSO and Office of Emergency Management, including the Union County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Marshal’s Service, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Knox County Sheriff’s Department Aviation Service, Civil Air Patrol, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, Union County Emergency Management, Claiborne and Union County Rescue Squads and several local fire departments.

If anyone has information on the whereabouts or location of Elmore, you’re asked to call 911 immediately.
