Recently at Claiborne High we have been adding many new members into our various clubs and renewing old memberships. National Honor Society currently is taking dues for the 2016-2017 school year. We also currently have mums for sale in the Greenhouse. Our Mechanics Team is going to State Finals soon, and it is an all girl’s team. We had our first “senior seminar” meeting and all seniors now have permission forms for the LMU College Fair coming up. College Application week will be Sept. 26-30. There will be a Financial Aid night at CHS on Sept. 22 for seniors.

In sports news, Claiborne played a great game against Chuckey-Doak on Sept. 2 but were defeated by five points with a final score of 32-37. This past Friday night, Claiborne took on their long-time rival, Cumberland Gap. Both teams put up a hard fight and a good game, but the Bulldogs came out on top with a final score of 26-21. This is the eighth win against the Gap that Claiborne has had, and we are very proud of our Bulldogs football players. We would like to thank the coaching staff, booster club, and sponsors for all of their hard work and dedication to the team. Claiborne girls’ soccer took on J. Frank White Academy this past week and had their first win of the season with a final score of 8-0.
