It’s almost parade time in New Tazewell!
The New Tazewell Merchant Association will present the Annual Merchant Parade on Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. This year marks the 43rd Annual Merchant Christmas Parade and promises to be a great, family event again this year.
The parade opens the holiday season for many families, friends, and all the children on the third Saturday in November, typically to a crowd of thousands lining the parade route. The parade theme this year is “The music and magic of Christmas.”
All entrants are encouraged to decorate a float with the parade theme. Parade entries will be judged on creativity and overall appearance. Float entries are asked to be at the Ingles and Walmart parking lot by 11 a.m. to start registering and in line and ready for judging by 11:30 a.m.
There is a $25 entry fee for every entry — cars, trucks, floats, tractors, motorcycles and others — in the parade. Horses will only be allowed pulling a horse-drawn buggy. All vendors must register and purchase a vendor permit.
Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third places for the best commercial and religious float entries.
