KNOXVILLE — An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment of a Kentucky man on aggravated assault and drug charges.

On August 7, at the request of 8th District Attorney General Jared Effler, TBI Special Agents began investigating the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the Walmart parking lot located on Alberta Street in Oneida. The investigation revealed that officers with the Oneida Police Department responded to the location after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, they encountered Shannon O’Regan. When O’Regan exited the vehicle he was in, he allegedly pointed a gun at officers. The officers fired at O’Regan, striking him once.

On October 18, the Scott County Grand Jury returned indictments charging O’Regan, 30, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, with two counts of aggravated possession of schedule II intent to sale/deliver, simple possession of schedule III, possession of schedule IV with intent to sale/deliver, felony possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of marijuana.

O’Regan turned himself in and was booked into the Scott County Jail on a $225,000 bond.
