Estep renders decisions on VOPs

Judge Robert Estep rendered decisions on several violations of probation cases during hearings on Dec. 15 and Dec. 17 in Claiborne County Sessions Court.

Brandy Jones, 26, charged with failure to report to probation, to submit to random drug screenings, to complete DUI School and nonpayment of court costs and supervision fees while on probation, was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days at 75 percent confinement. Jones was given credit for any jail time already served.

Joseph D. King, 32, initially charged with failure to report to probation, failure to submit to random drug screenings, to obtain an alcohol and drug assessment and nonpayment of court costs and fines while on probation, was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days at 75 percent confinement with credit for 11 months, 29 days at 75 percent jail time already served.

Kasie Masingo, 30, charged under multiple warrants with failing a drug screening, testing positive for methamphetamine, failure to complete an alcohol and drug assessment, failure to report to probation, nonpayment of court costs and supervision fees and possession of drug paraphernalia while on probation, was sentenced to a concurrent 11 months, 29 days at 75 percent confinement. Masingo was given credit for any jail time served since the original date of offense on April 27, 2012. She may enroll after 30 days of her confinement in an inpatient treatment facility. If she does, the balance of her sentence may be suspended upon the successful completion of the program.

Chasity Barnard, 24, was initially charged with failure to report to probation, to submit to random drug screenings, to complete an alcohol and drug assessment and nonpayment of court costs and supervision fees. Barnard picked up new charges of burglary of a vehicle and theft of property valued up to $60,000 and aggravated burglary and theft of property valued up to $1,000 while on probation. She was also charged while on probation with three counts of theft under $500. Barnard was initially sentenced to three years. However, she may serve one year in an inpatient rehabilitation program followed by a two year probationary period. She was given credit for any jail time already served. Once released from confinement, Barnard must begin paying at least $100 per month in court costs and fines. She must pay $500 in restitution to her victim and forfeits $300 to the Economic Crime Fund.

Denver Carson Maples, 25, was initially charged with failure to report to probation, to submit to random drug screenings, to complete an alcohol and drug assessment and nonpayment of court costs and fines. Maples racked up additional charges of nonpayment of drug screening fees and failure to report to jail to serve a prior violation sentence of ten consecutive weekends. He is to remain on supervised probation for 11 months, 29 days.

Susan Simpson, 34, charged with failure to report to probation, to submit to random drug screenings, to complete an alcohol and drug assessment and nonpayment of court costs and supervision fees while on probation, was sentenced to 20 days confinement with six months supervised probation. Simpson was given credit for 20 days jail time already served.

Frederick S. Douglas, 46, initially charged with failure to report to probation, to submit to random drug screenings and nonpayment of court costs, fines and supervision fees while on probation, was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days supervised probation.
