The City of Luttrell has received the “John S. Wilder Rebuild Tennessee” Award from the Tennessee Development District Association (TDDA). Luttrell was recognized for the construction of a new City Hall. The award was made during the TDDA Annual Conference held on March 29 at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro.

The TDDA is an association of Tennessee’s nine development districts, which are regional planning and economic development organizations. These policy boards within each district are made up of the state’s 95 counties and 340 municipalities. Development districts assist with regional issues including planning and economic development coordination, transportation, solid waste, loans and grants for critical infrastructure such as water and sewer systems, housing, tourism, economic development loans, environmental quality and natural resources planning, work force development and services to the elderly.

“These awards are given on the basis of nominations from each of the nine development districts and are presented to those local governments and other agencies for special contributions to the improvement of infrastructure systems and/or the quality of life for their citizens. The new City Hall consists of 2,200 square feet and contains a courtroom, the city recorder’s office, a break area, the mayor’s office, two restrooms, a maintenance room and foyer that has ceramic stone panels made to resemble wood. There is a granite counter in the city recorder’s office and carpet tiles in the courtroom and mayor’s office. The City Hall has a veteran’s memorial courtyard in front of the building. This is an excellent example of a small municipality investing in their future in order to ensure excellent service to their constituents,” said Terry Bobrowski, executive director of the East Tennessee Development District.

“The Rebuild Tennessee Awards highlight and recognize projects from across the State of Tennessee that have had a significant impact on the jurisdictions in which they are located. We appreciate the effort that Luttrell has made toward improving its service infrastructure and it is only fitting that they be recognized for their leadership and vision,” said Richard Driver, TDDA president and Lafayette City mayor.
